Michigan Style Chili Recipe

Reader Noel from Michigan has submitted what looks like an excellent recipe for Chili. I know I am going to make a batch this week and will report back how it is.

Chili Recipe

  • 8 oz. of Ground Turkey or meat of your choice cooking spray.
  • 3 cloves of Garlic finely chopped
  • 3 table spoods of chili powder
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 green chili, chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 can of whole pealed tomatoes, chopped and drained
  • 1 cup of Chicken stock
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground black Pepper
  • 2 oz. of yellow cornmeal

Coat the saucepan with cooking spary and brown the meet. Add the garlic, onions, chilli powder, green chili, bay leaf, salt and pepper. saute over medium heat until onions are soft and starting to brown. Add the tomatoes, and chicken stock and let mixer simmer for 20 mins stirring occationaly. Remove the bay leaf and add the cornmeal and stir until the chili thickens. Remove from heat and let stand for 10 mins and then server.
