Tai Pei Frozen Chinese Food Micro Boxes

Our purchasing staff had noticed this item before - as it comes in the unique packaging of a to-go box from a chinese restaurant. The box is rather clever, however....this is not a FPT pick of the week. As you can see in the photos the portion is tiny and it was just plain bland. Purchased on-sale for 1.99 - even more frustrating if you paid the full price of around 3.99. The staff here has chosen to stay away from the "Tai Pei".

Tai Pei is tasty and quick. As for portion size-cost is only 2 bucks from Walmart. I say stop acting like all you want is "Money for nothing and your chicks for free." Tai Pei is high quality, tasty and inexpensive, the antithesis of the juvenile derogatory putdown, "nasty."

All you do is chop a green onion and add a dollop of soy sauce and maybe some pepper flakes to the dinner and it improves greatly. Very good for quick and not too heavy a meal folks.

For that matter, try the Gen Tsau Chicken. Just enough spice and fresh vegetables. Low in calories and healthy.

Ugh, just tried a Bourbon Street Chicken from Tai Pei. Ghastly.

Its actually pretty good stuff, the vegetables actually almost steam and come out crisp and nice. Its low cal and actually got some vitamin content in it unlike most tv dinners.
Eat it!

Yes, I agree with those who said it's good... I've had several varieties of the Tai Pei frozen dinners, and I find them quite tasty regardless of the fact they're not fresh cooked at a Chinese restaurant... the price is great, too.

ditto the approving comments, especially dr g & lavenderlace. i had the general tso's chicken: the veggies were crispy, the snowpeas especially plump from steam, and there was more there than i could eat. the size of my boxed meal bore no resemblance to scantiness of the one pictured! there was plenty of meat in it, too. with a cup of (prepared instant) rice, it was still only 370 calories.

I too thought it was over-packaged.

However, for $1.97 @ Wally World it wasn't bad. A little doctoring with your favorite spices and you're good to go.

I don't know where you'd go for a fairly well rounded meal for under 2 bucks.

And, cooking times are great.

I can't believe they even charged for this. It taste bad and it is not 3 servings. The Pepper Beef had 2 pieces of meat. I will never buy this brand again.

tried their pot stickers and they were fabulous and not many calories - sodium isn't bad if you go light on the sauce.

I for one do not care for this line of products. I bought their Beef entre', and was instantly reminded of that old Wendy's commercial: "Where's the Beef???!!!". The flavor was AWFUL.
I tried contacting the company at the website taipeifood.com, every time I was shifted to another page saying the web site was not answering, was taking too long, etc. This whether I was using Mozilla Firefox or AOL Search. Exasperated, I called the company at their toll-free number only to get an answering machine saying to leave my name, number, the numbers on the top of their product's container, and a short message and I would be called back-No One Ever Did!!! The numbers which were on the top of their container were:
T529311 22:20pm BEST BY 04/20/13.
Don't buy this stuff- it's NASTY and you need a MICROSCOPE TO FIND BEEF, if indeed there is ANY beef in it. The flavor is awful and I wish I had saved my receipt from Smith's Foods so I could take the contents of the entre back! Yuck!
Malisimo! NEVER AGAIN!

They actually don't taste too bad, but don't count on one filling you up. The carton used to be filled more. Now they are 1/2 full (not an exaggeration). If they are not on sale they are not really worth the price.
